Lomi – “to knead, to rub, or soothe; to work in and out, as the paws of a contented cat” and also “to take and turn, to shift” as in “the sacred shift within you that is inspired by the healing kahuna.”

LomiLomi

As a sacred part of the holistic Hawaiian healing arts Lomilomi is traditionally part of the larger perspective of healing of an individual and much more than just massage.

Hands, arms, elbows, and shoulders are used in slow rhythmic movements and long, flowing motions to relieve tension and bring peace. Gentle stretching and subtle joint movement are also incorporated to relax muscles, promote circulation, and release stagnant energy from within.

The practitioner works gently yet deeply with profound compassion & aloha to guide you on a journey of self-discovery helping you connect with and transmute denser energies whilst opening you to receive abundance in all her forms.

Everybody can receive and benefit from Hawaiian Massage regardless of shape, age or state of health and you will find it particularly beneficial if you are depleted or lack of vitality, feel ungrounded/out of balance or suffering pain and can also support you through times of stress, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, physical discomfort or injuries, confusion, grief or loss including ongoing illness, work or relationship issues.

What to expect

Sessions commence with ha (breath), breath is both movement and life and brings you into your body and the present moment; and pule (prayer) to call in the healing power of spirit and the ancestors. Warmed organic coconut oil is applied in long flowing strokes which facilitate relaxation and the dropping of the mind, preparing you for deeper work following.

As you dive deep emotions may rise to the surface and we encourage you to release these via breath, sound & movement where necessary.  It is possible to encounter tears, laughter, groaning or twitching as the body releases tension and all of these are perfectly acceptable and held as beneficial.

As professional bodywork practitioners we have strength of conviction for the work we do and hold space with the utmost dignity and respect for our clients.  We are trained in the art of draping so your modesty is assured at all times.

Hawaiian Massage works
